I’ve been telling Matt for the longest time it seems that I want to pack up a picnic and play hooky from work and responsibilities and go for a picnic. Well…I decided to do it! It all triggered with a trip to Target actually–let me explain.

I recently was in Target (as I always am, let’s be real) picking up a few things and I noticed they had a display of outdoor glasses, plates, and a picnic basket! It was really cute and kind of reminded me of something from the Wizard of Oz, but I remember being surprised at the price tag for how big it was. I ended up finding this one online and loved the shape and blue gingham napkins. With my new picnic basket en route to my house, time to plan the picnic!

Living in San Francisco, I’ve always loved the Conservatory of Flowers and knew that would be a gorgeous location to pack up a bottle of wine and a picnic basket and spend an afternoon. It cracks me up that this picnic basket has salt and pepper shakers in it because it seems like so much effort to pack a picnic that needs salt and pepper added–haha, so I decided this particular spring Thursday needed a picnic of simple essentials. I packed up a bottle of AVA Grace Wine–nothing like a crisp glass of wine on a hot day!–, juicy strawberries, truffle cheese I picked up from Trader Joe’s, and a crunchy baguette to round it all out. Yum!

I’m glad that winter has passed us because as much as I love a cozy over-sized sweater, I much prefer flowy dresses and bohemian details! Dresses like this one make me swoon–and I love the super affordable price of this one too! And how cute are these handmade sandals from Nemesis Sandals? I can’t wait to watch the leather naturally patina over a summer of wearing them.

If you don’t have a picnic planned for yourself soon, I highly recommend it! This afternoon with no laptop and no phone was so good for my soul!
