West Bend, Wisconsin Gilbert W. Carlson 1943 — 2024 On Sunday August 11, 2024, at the young age of 81, Gilbert (Gil) W. Carlson went peacefully home to the Lord, just after Mass finished playing quietly in his room. He was surrounded by wife and family, after a short battle with Kidney failure compounded by years of heart disease. He was born on February 3, 1943 to Walter and Esther (nee Nolte) Carlson. Gil was an avid hunter for ducks and deer, who loved his hunting dogs. He was an even bigger fisherman. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He created many things of metal and wood, even though he said he was no carpenter. Gil shared with excitement his knowledge and skills about everything in life from God, to a good fishing tip, to tricks... Rosendale, Wisconsin L. Kathleen "Kathy" Meilahn 1960 — 2024 L. Kathleen "Kathy" Meilahn, age 63 of Rosendale passed away August 4, 2024 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. A memorial service for her will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Rosendale United Church of Christ. Visitation 2 hours before the service. Pastor Wes Wassell will officiate and inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Rosendale United Church of Christ, 204 W. Division St., Rosendale, WI 54974. Blessed with years of exceptional health and vitality, Marcie had a rewarding 30-year career as a librarian with the Milwaukee Public Library, followed by an active, rich retirement that included travel and participation in many cultural and educational activities. Her pride and affection for the city was seen in the many tours that she led as a guide for Historic Milwaukee (HMI) and as a docent at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Sippel 1955 — 2024 Carol Ann Sippel was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Ken and Lu Sippel (Schrage), one of six children. She attended UW Madison where she received her nursing degree and went on to work in the Meriter Birthing Center in Madison for over 26 years. Carol was a caretaker in her soul, and it was her calling to always help others. Being a nurse was the perfect fit for her innate abilities to selflessly care, nurture and educate others. Sue was born on October 19, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Janet Clifford. Her mother died when Sue was 15. Sue was one of the remaining survivors of the polio epidemic of the 1950's. She was stricken with polio at age 16 and hospitalized in an iron lung. Zanto, age 83 of Beaver Dam and formerly of Waupun, passed away peacefully after a battle with Alzheimer's disease on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Prairie Ridge in Beaver Dam. Eva was born on April 4, 1941 in Fox Lake, the daughter of Casmir W. and Mary Anne L. (Bell) Klapper Sr. She grew up and attended school in Beaver Dam. After graduating from high school in Juneau, WI, in 1952, Mary earned a teaching degree at the Eau Claire Teachers College. She briefly taught grades K-12 in a one room schoolhouse.
